| Zhou
Genbao, who also signs his work as Xiashang and Abao, was
born on March 2, 1945 in Shanghai, China. He graduated from
Shanghai Fine Arts College, majored in Chinese Painting. In
1963, Mr. Zhou was appointed consultant to the Shanghai Museum
Painting Department where his reproduction of classical Chinese
Paintings and research articles that earned critical acclaim
nationwide. His art works have been exhibited in China, Europe,
and the United States. Throughout the years, Mr. Zhou was
inspired from performance art of Chinese Opera, he devote
himself in Chinese Opera figures paintings. His works emphasize
on the abstract rhythm of the figure motions; therefore, he
work always reflects the classical style with contemporary
flavor. |
