Zhang,
Hong (Arnold Chang) (born in
1954 in New York City, native of Jiashan, Zhejiang)
He
studied art history with Professor James Cahill, and holds a master's
degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor's
degree from the University of Colorado.
Primarily
a landscape painter, Zhang has studied painting and connoisseurship
with C.C Wang
since 1976. He also studied painting with Kuo Yen-chiao in Taipei
and Wang Chi-yuan in New York. His works have been exhibited in
San Francisco, Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing, and Shanghai, Vancouver,
and New York.
He
has previously taught Chinese art at the University of Colorado
and San Francisco City College, has organized several exhibitions.
He is the author or contributor to numerous books, exhibition
catalogues, and articles on Chinese painting history, theory,
and criticism. Arnold Chang (Zhang, Hong) served for many years
as Vice President and Director of Chinese Paintings at Sotheby's
New York, and a Director of Sotheby's Hong Kong and Sotheby's
Taiwan. He is currently a Chinese painting specialist at Kaikodo
in New York.
