Mr.
Jian-Kang Jin was born in Shanghai, China in 1957. He was
awarded a scholarship in Fine arts to Shanghai Teacher's
University in 1985. Mr. Jin then taught the fine arts in
the Shanghai Publications Institute. His art is characterized
by emotions expressed in a realistic style using oils and
pastels. He makes aspects of china accessible to non-Chinese
viewers, thus bridging two very different cultures. Mr.
Jin received many favorable international reviews in magazines
and newspapers.
In
Paris, he studied and researched fine arts independently
for two years. He then attended the Academy of Fine Arts
in Florence for another two years. In the United States,
Mr. Jin obtained a Master of Arts degree from New York University
in 1992. He has exhibited widely in China, France and Italy,
as well as in the United States.
Awards: Silver Medal. International Competition of
Painting and Calligraphy for World Peace and Friendship,
in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Founding
of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization. In December of 1999, Mr. Jin received a metal
from Asian Pacific Art Institute of America for his 'Great
Contribution to the Twentieth Century'. In
1999, his oil painting "Competition for Living" was selected
in the book Always Bright - paintings by American Chinese
Artists, 1970 - 1999. In summer of 1999, Mr. Jin was
invited as one of the art advisors for "World Chinese Painting
and Calligraphy Competition"
